The Arabian Chicken Majboos Recipe is a delicious preparation of chicken cooked with mandi powder served over a layer of basmati rice. It is packed with flavours and taste of the perfect blend of spices. Serve it along with raita for a delicious meal.

Arabian Chicken Majboos is a traditional Yemeni dish and it’s very popular among all the Arab countries.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of Bradma’s Premium Basmati Rice
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp. of Bradma’s Vegetable Ghee
  • 1 kg of chicken breasts, cut into cubes
  • 1 green hot pepper, chopped
  • 5 crushed garlic cloves
  • 3 pieces of dried lime
  • 5 grains of cardamom
  • 2 finely chopped tomatoes
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 tsp. of turmeric
  • 1 tbsp. of mixed spices
  • 1 tsp. rose water
  • 1 cup of boiled chickpeas
  • Black pepper – (as desired)
  • Salt – (as desired)

Cooking Instrucions

  • 1. In a pot, heat the oil and stir-fry the chicken cubes to be cooked on all sides.
  • 2. Set the chicken on a separate plate and set it aside.
  • 3. In the same pot, melt the ghee over medium heat and stir-fry the onions for 10 minutes.
  • 4. Add the ginger, garlic, and hot pepper, stir the ingredients well, and season with the mixed spices and turmeric.
  • 5. Make some holes into the dried lime, then add them to the pot along with the chicken, tomatoes, chickpeas, cardamom, salt, black pepper, cinnamon, and cloves.
  • 6. Pour in the chicken stock, stir to combine, bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 30 minutes.
  • 7. Add the rice and stir, then cover the pot and leave the rice to soften, and stir from time to time.
  • 8. Put the rice with the chicken on a plate and sprinkle it with rose water, and Bon Appetit!
