Dates cake is a simple and delicious dessert. Flecked with chocolate chips and walnuts and topped with sparkling sugar, this cake is an old-fashioned holiday favorite.

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups of Bradma’s All Purpose Flour
  • 1 tsp of baking powder
  • 1 tsp of baking soda
  • 1 tsp of ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp of ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp of salt
  • 1 cup of unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract
  • 1 cup of buttermilk
  • 1 cup of Bradma’s Majdool Dates, chopped
  • 1/2 cup of walnuts chopped

Cooking Instrucions

  • Preheat the oven to 350℉ (180℃) and grease at 9-inch (23cm) round cake pan.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together Bradma’s Flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger and salt.
  • In a large bowl beat the butter and brown sugar  together until the mixture gets light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time beat well after you add each one.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the buttermilk, and beat until they all get combined.
  • Fold in Bradma’s chopped majdool dates and the chopped walnuts.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  • Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer  it to a wire rack to cool completely.
